Bio
A lifelong resident of Neosho, Jonathan has been deeply involved in the community and the Neosho School District. He is committed to helping all students succeed both in school and beyond by supporting existing programs and exploring new opportunities in education.
Jonathan was first elected to the Neosho School Board in 2013 and has since been re-elected in 2016, 2019, and 2022. He has served as board president for three years and has been a member of the Missouri School Boards Association (MSBA) board since 2020, currently serving as its president. Throughout his tenure, he has defended conservative values, prioritized student safety, and worked to ensure a high-quality education for all. He has also focused on making Neosho Schools a great place to work to attract and retain top educators and staff.
Believing the district should be guided by the community, Jonathan has helped lead efforts to gather public input on long-term planning and the Portrait of a Neosho Graduate. Most recently, he and his fellow board members engaged the community in selecting a new superintendent.
Jonathan attended Benton and South schools before graduating from Neosho High School in 1998. He briefly attended the University of Arkansas before earning a B.S. in Political Science from MSSU in 2010. While at MSSU, he worked as a Legislative Assistant for Representative Marilyn Ruestman in the Missouri House of Representatives. Since 2010, he has worked in his family’s business, Garages & More, and is also a licensed REALTOR with PRO100 REALTORS in Neosho.
Active in the community, Jonathan is a member of the Neosho Lions Club, Sigma Pi and honor fraternities Omicron Delta Kappa and Pi Sigma Alpha. He attends Hope City Christian Church and has previously served as president of Bright Futures Neosho and as a board member of the Neosho Newton County Library.
In his free time, Jonathan enjoys traveling, reading, following politics, and cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks. Most of all, he loves spending time with his niece and nephews—Alexus, Josiah, Isaiah, Mariah, and Isaac and his dogs, Pistol and Daisy.
